As we near the end of the local veg season, we move to our one-size variety box, with a selection of what is available locally at this time of year, supplemented with some veg sourced from further afield (but still supporting local suppliers).
Consulting our customers over the years has allowed us to conclude that you’d like us to continue to deliver our boxes for as long as possible as we approach the ‘veg gap’ when ground is prepared and crops are sown for the upcoming autumn season. This sometimes means that a couple of the items will be sourced from elsewhere instead of our usual neighbouring farms, but allows us to keep selling the lovely local veg that IS still available without compromising the size of the boxes so much that it becomes unviable. We may also include some more unusual spring/summer veg items that become available locally, that you don’t often see in our boxes, such as rhubarb and chard.
The cost (compared with our regular seasonal box) reflects the price of the items in the box at this time and is directly going to the producers/suppliers, not extra profit for us.
Please let us know if you’d like to stop your regular weekly/fortnightly box during this time, or you’d like us to omit those items from your box. We totally understand and look forward to bringing you all the goodies our local area has to offer next season. Thank you from us and the local farmers all for your amazing support this past season – you really are wonderful and your comments, smiles, foodie pics and recommendations/social media shares make it all worthwhile.
